LIST OF CHARGES RELEVANT TO PILOTAGE

Pursuant to Section 10 of the Pilotage Act 1987 the Gloucester Harbour Trustees as Competent Harbour Authority for the Port of Gloucester make the following list of Pilotage Charges:-

  1. PILOTAGE CHARGES

    Subject to a minimum of 750 tonnes Summer Deadweight, Pilotage Charges will be levied as follows:-
    (a) Breaksea Light to a destination within the Gloucester Harbour or vice versa 21.5p per Summer DWT
    (b) All pilotage between ports inward of the Breaksea Light 18.5p per Summer DWT

    Provided that in relation to specialist vessels and those of high volume to mass ratio such Ro-Ros, car carriers and passenger ships the above pilotage charges will be levied on a notional Summer Deadweight tonnage for such vessels that is calculated by applying the following formula:-

      "overall length in metres x the extreme breadth in metres x 2"

    subject to a minimum charge based on a notional 750 tonnes Summer Deadweight.

  2. RETENTION ON BOARD

    A charge will be levied on each occasion on which a Pilot shall be retained on board for a tide or part thereof due to operational requirement, ship breakdown, weather or at the direct request of a Master amounting to 25% of the Pilotage Charge.

  3. CANCELLATION OR POSTPONEMENT CHARGES

    The following charges will be levied where notice is given cancelling or postponing an order for a pilot.

    All the times relate to High Water at Sharpness (HWS)

    A INWARD BOUND VESSELS  
      i) Notice is given less than 10 hours but more than 8 hours before HWS 5% of the Pilotage Charge
      ii) Notice is given less than 8 hours before HWS 25% of the Pilotage Charge subject to a minimum of £125.00


    B INWARD BOUND (BRISTOL PORTS ONLY) VESSELS
      i) Notice is given less than 7 hours but more than 5 hours before HWS in relation to a vessel originating from a Bristol Channel port
    5% of the Pilotage Charge
      ii) Notice is given less than 5 hours before HWS in relation to a vessel originating from a Bristol Channel port 25% of the Pilotage Charge subject to a minimum of £125.00


    C OUTWARD BOUND VESSELS
      i) Notice is given less than 4 hours but more than 2½ hours before HWS 5% of the Pilotage Charge
      ii) Notice is given less than 2½ hours before HWS 25% of the Pilotage Charge

  4. FEES FOR LATE BOOKINGS AND BOOKINGS OUTSIDE DUTY WATCH HOURS

    A charge will be levied on orders received for pilots outside the hours advertised in the current Notice to Mariners - Pilotage Orders and Procedures - amounting to 5% of the Pilotage Charge.

  5. NON COMPULSORY PILOTAGE

    All matters relating to the provision of pilotage for vessels exempted from compulsory pilotage will be handled direct by Gloucester Pilots Partnership.

  6. PILOTAGE EXEMPTION CERTIFICATE CHARGES

    Classes A, B, C, D and E
    Examination Fee

    £100

    Grant of Certificate

    £20

    Annual Renewal of Certificate

    £20

    Amendment or issue of a duplicate Certificate

    £20

  7. PILOTAGE EXEMPTION PAYMENTS

    Pilotage Charges will be levied for each vessel navigated by a Certificate Holder as follows:-

    Class A

    1   For each of the first 10 complete trips in and out of the Harbour commencing on 1 January each year - 20% of the Pilotage Charge

    2 For each complete trip thereafter up to 31 December each year - 5% of the Pilotage Charge.

    Classes B, C, D and E

    1 For the first trip either in or out or within the Harbour commencing on 1 January each year - full Pilotage Charge.

    2 For each subsequent trip up to 31 December each year - no charge.

  8. EFFECTIVE DATE OF COMMENCEMENT

    The charges specified in the above List will be levied on and after 1 April 2001 and CANCEL the previous List of Charges applicable from 1 April 1999.
