We hope that you will take the time to see what we are doing. If you want to know more, we would be glad to tell you about current progress. You will see that much is done in partnership with other bodies, firms and groups, and would welcome enquiries from anyone who feels that their work might help or complement a current council initiative.

Thank you for your interest in the Forest of Dean District Council's pages.

They explain what the council is trying to do between now and 2001.

The Forest of Dean District Council's area includes landscape of great beauty, much of it natural woodland, with an attractive and distinctive local character.

However, the area faces particular problems :-

  • Unemployment and Low Wages for those in work

  • The Availability of Training and Assistance for Young People

  • Public and Private Transport Issues

  • Social Change, especially relating to the Elderly

  • Poverty and Rural Deprivation

  • Pressure on the Environment

The Council is working for the regeneration of the Forest of Dean, economically, socially and environmentally.

The overall priority is to ensure that the area is revived, and the quality of life improved for everyone.
