If you are Planning a Visit to the District

Despite the recent outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease, the Forest of Dean is still welcoming visitors. Many visitor attractions are operating normally and hotels and bed and breakfasts are still open for business.

The 'magic' of the Forest is still here to be enjoyed and there is a wealth and towns and villages to explore which include pubs, restaurants, cafes and markets. Why not learn about the history of the Forest towns and villages. You can still access the great outdoors and can drive, run, walk, cycle, ride horses on or beside tarmacked roads.

The Forest of Dean does have cases of Foot and Mouth, but all of these cases are isolated on farms in rural areas, and there is no risk to human health. In order to minimize the spread of the disease, Tourism and Marketing Services request that visitors obey all 'keep out' signs and do not go into the woodlands or on any of the countryside footpaths or bridleways and do not go near cows, sheep, pigs, goats or deer.

Below is a list of all of the attractions which are still operating for business, as well as a whole range of events to cater for everyone, starting with the Carnival of Transport over the Easter Bank Holiday. So why not arrange a last minute short break to the Forest, driving through the Forest at this time of year is particularly spectacular and we wouldn't want you to miss it!!!

If you have any queries concerning your visit to the Forest of Dean please contact Tourism and Marketing Services at: [email protected].
