The Soudley Ponds Walk is a designated trail around old fish ponds, surrounded by some of the best mature Douglas Fir in Britain. The pond's clarity results from the filtering of the water feeding the ponds through the local sandstone. This purity encourages insect life and this area has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The walk is about a mile long: a level surface has been provided which is suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and people with limited mobility. A leaflet with information about the trail can be bought from the museum shop.
