A Guide to the Museum Displays

In the Museum, objects from the collections are displayed to tell the story of the Forest and its people. The Forest of Dean is unlike most parts of Britain. Its character and landscape result from thousands of years of interaction between people and nature.

Today the word 'forest' means an extensive woodland. In the past it had quite a different meaning. In this guide the Forest refers to the district and the tree cover is called woodland.

These pages are a guide of the indoor galleries in the main buildings. For other displays see the main menu on the left side of your screen.
