Friends of the Dean Heritage Museum Trust

The Friends of the Museum is a society which exists to help the museum in a variety of practical ways. This can include anything from taking publicity displays to special events in and around the Forest of Dean, to leading visiting parties on guided countryside walks or tours of the museum.

A regular newsletter is sent out, keeping Friends in touch with opportunities for volunteer help, forthcoming events, and the latest developments here at Camp Mill. As a concession all members enjoy free admission to the Dean Heritage Centre on production of a current membership card. This provides an opportunity to introduce your friends and relatives to the Centre. The admission charge they pay will help to further the work of the Trust.

Friends of the Museum have been active in raising substantial sums towards improvements and extensions to the Museum displays. A sponsored walk around the Forest's bounds (which total a mere fifty-five miles!), coffee mornings and book sales, a sponsored swim in the mill pond (eugh!), and various other events have all contributed to the much-needed funds. The Friends have also donated items such as display cases, and a projector for use by the Museum.

If you would like to play a part in preserving and interpreting the Forest's unique heritage, please collect an application form from the shop, or write to:
