The Forestry Commission woodlands in the Forest of Dean are now open and waiting to welcome you.

Some of the things you can expect to enjoy during your visit:


WALKING

Woodland walks and picnic sites that are open include:

  • Beechenhurst & The Sculpture Trail
  • Mallards Pike
  • Cannop
  • Wenchford
  • New Fancy
  • Cyril Hart Arboretum
  • Speech House Woodlands
  • Nagshead Nature Reserve
  • Speculation
  • Edge End
  • Symonds Yat Rock (picnic site and Highmeadow
    Woods, Mailscot Wood open. Huntsham Hill closed)
  • Dymock Woods
  • Queens Wood, Nr Newent
  • Highnam Woods (RSPB)
  • Linear Park, Cinderford

Please note that some Public Rights of Way across agricultural land remain closed, please check the above site for further details.

When visiting you are kindly asked to follow a few guidelines to protect the
countryside from foot and mouth disease. Countryside guidelines.

 

CYCLING

The Forest cycle trails are now open, so why not come and enjoy a cycle ride through the Forest


 

PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY

Please note that some Public Rights of Way across agricultural land remain closed, please check the above site for further details.

When visting please take care to protect the countryside from foot and mouth disease by following this code:

Do Not go near, and never feed or handle livestock during your visit or let your dog come into contact with livestock during your visit
For 72 hours prior to, and following, your visit to the woodland please ensure that you or your dog(s) do not come into contact with livestock
Do not leave any waste food or litter
Ensure dogs are under control
Use disinfectant/ mats where provided
Start your walk or ride with clean equipment, footwear and clothing

The Forest's network of quiet country roads allow you to enjoy the beauty of the landscape, especially memorable now the Forest is in full bloom with its glorious greenery and wild flowers.
