Welcome to Steam Mills County Primary School.The School Buildings

Do you want a friendly, caring rural school with small classes and busy pupils? We have approximately 110 children on roll, aged 4 to 11, organised into 5 classes (average size 22). We work in an attractive modernised Victorian building with pleasant classrooms, large hall, library, nature area and playing field.

The staff are hard working and enthusiastic. After school hours they run various clubs which will provide your children with opportunities for extra games, music, nature activities and residential visits.

If you have babies/toddlers or 3/4 year olds we can cater for you as well. Our Mums and under 3 group meet once a week, our playgroup twice a week (in its own building), and our rising 5's come into school for morning sessions the 2 terms before entry in September.
Springtime outdoors

What ever your child's strengths we will build on them working in partnership with you as parents to make sure their time in school is happy and successful.

Children in the school

If your child has special needs these will be catered for with individual learning programmes and the extra support of a classroom assistant.

Don't be afraid to phone or call for more information. Parents are always welcome at Steam Mills. You don't need an appointment to speak to a teacher, and if you want to offer your help in school we'll be only too grateful. Many parents do - you'll see them hearing readers, running libraries, accompanying children on visits - in fact they have almost as good a time as the children.

Our Friends of Steam Mills School Association run many fund raising and special events so there's lots to join in.

Quote from our OFSTED report:

Steam Mills pupils show excellent attitudes to their work;
relationships between staff/pupils, behaviour and attendance are very good.

Remember the choice of school is yours. So find out what's best for your child.
