Walking
In addition to the many short walks, the Wye Valley Walk meanders along the River Wye for 52 miles. Offa's Dyke Footpath is a National Trail of some 177 miles! - a small section of which is within the Wye Valley. The walks around Tintern, Wye Valley & Forest of Dean Map & Guide, can be purchased from Coleford Tourist Information Centre.
Canoeing
For the novice canoeist there are Activity Centres along the Wye Valley willing to provide tuition, such as canoeing and kayaking, and also quad trekking and cycling, etc.
The River Wye is not recommended for swimmers or inexperienced canoeists.
Other activities include cycling, rock climbing, abseiling, caving, archery, golfing, fishing, horse riding, quad trekking, and even 4x4 driving, with experts on hand to help you at the Activity Centres and Leisure Centres throughout the area.
