It has recently been sympathetically converted to provide two well-equipped and very comfortable holiday cottages. Each has an enclosed west facing courtyard garden, which is bathed in sun in the afternoons. Both cottages are centrally heated. On the ground floor is a sitting room and a kitchen/dining room with fitted kitchen at one end and dining area at the other. Both sitting room and kitchen have large French windows leading into the enclosed courtyard garden. The sitting rooms are furnished with comfy settees and have colour television DVD and video. The kitchens are well equipped and include oven with grill, microwave oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and toaster. The dining areas are furnished with pine farmhouse table and six chairs. Upstairs the cottages have bathroom with loo, basin, bath and electric shower over the bath, and three bedrooms. The rooms are furnished throughout with solid pine furniture, and bedrooms are equipped with wardrobe, dressing table with stool and drawer space. All beds have duvets. Number One This cottage will accommodate 6 persons plus cot. It has one double bedded room, one twin bedded room and one room with bunk beds. Number Two This cottage will accommodate 6 persons plus one. It contains one double bedded and two twin bedded rooms. There is adequate space in the larger of the twin rooms to fit a travel cot or folding bed, all of which can be supplied on request. Outside The gravelled and paved court yard gardens are well stocked with both climbers and scented tubs. On the opposite side of the entrance drive is car parking for two vehicles per cottage (arrangements can be made for additional off-road parking at Birchamp House) and grassed area. Directions In Newland with the Church on your left and "The Ostrich" on your right, take the second right after "The Ostrich" just before the red telephone box which is on your left. Parking is on the left of the drive. Newland Newland is a picturesque village in the Forest of Dean bordering on the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It contains a number of substantial houses. The village is built around the magnificent parish church dating from around 1216, which is known as the "Cathedral of the Forest". The Ostrich Inn public house, which dates from 1694, is within 60 yards, and must be one of the most atmospheric pubs in the county. It is a free house serving a varied menu. The village is two miles from the River Wye, and is well located for walking, cycling and sightseeing. There are four golf courses within the locality. The town of Coleford is within three miles, where there is a selection of shops, banks and two supermarkets. Monmouth, which is approximately six miles away, has more varied and specialist shopping. Electricity, heating and bed linen are included. Towels are available. Tariff – 2007/2008 Weekly lettings begin on Fridays from 4.00 pm, and end at 10.00am on the following Friday.
