RECTORY
HOUSE |

Rectory House, Woolaston Jane Bowyer Woolaston Nr Lydney Glos Tel: 01594 528179 |
Rectory House is a Grade II Listed 16th Century narrow Tudor House which was built by the Duke of Beaufort's son. It is surrounded by 30 acres of grounds and gardens with wide reaching views of the severn estuary. The grounds themselves are not only used for horse-riding
and livery - the house being an ideal base for various local bridle rides
- but are also of archaeological interest. An anglo-saxon site has been
discovered within its boundaries and there are rumours that BBC2's Time
Team may investigate further. The adjacent church has a presecular/christian
grave yard and rectory house's own 17th century hatha wall may be of particular
interest to historians. |
